Sticks & Stones Retrospective

When I first started Sticks & Stones I was looking for a different approach to creating comics so I kept my script looser so I could be flexible. I wanted a sequential work that I could approach at a leisure. I did really like the opportunity to mull over the comic and iron out wrinkles as well as respond to member input. Chances are my next comic will come out at a faster pace and won’t have the cool opportunities to respond to fan feedback. Hopefully one day i’ll figure out how to capture that organic process at a quicker pace.

Personally I prefer Marty on the bottom, it would be out of character for him to be on top, and just as out of character for either of the other two to be on the bottom. If marty were to be on top, an new, even more effeminate character is needed. I just hope marty doesn’t get too much girlier. I think you found the perfect mix, Onta. Still dresses like a boy, just a very girly one, hehe.

As for the comic, loved it. But I did have two small problems with it. IMO, there were too many close ups. I mean they are nice once in a while, for the action shots, but for the most part, it’d be nice to see the whole picture and not just a hole and some cheeks (lol.) The other thing is that marty’s eyes kind of seems soulless at certain points, instead of sensual. He always struck me as the type of character who has big bright, curious eyes, as opposed to the typically sexy look. But make no mistake, I still thought the comic was amazing and eagerly await the next one.

One observation I had with the story that kinda bugged me was Marty still on the receiving end. I’d have felt that after being tormented/teased as he was, he’d be in the mood for being the top, and not the usual receiver. The setting was pretty good for that twist in his character.

The comic definitely ended with an unexpected but happy ending, but it surely felt rushed. Not that it was bad by any means, but the story had a certain momentum to it in the beginning, seemingly thought out, then just ended with the usualness I suppose.

It was still hot, regardless. =^.^=

One benefit is that I can re master it when i ready it for print. Which i intend to. I’m still learning comics so I hope to improve soon.
